V-Hoe

This is a pattern of tool that dates back to the late 1800's--maybe before. The V-shaped blade penetrates soil easily for four to six-inch deep cultivating. The point can be used to prick out weeds. Tilt the blade left or right and use the sharpened edges to slice away weeds or scrape soil. Most often seen on a five foot handle, the V-hoe also does yeoman service in this shorter 14-inch version. The long, curving shank of our hand V-hoe is made of 7/16" steel and enables reaching around and behind plants to decapitate weeds.
