Rabbiting Spade (Bulldog)

Sale price$93.00

A forged spade for tight spaces

NOTE: We haven't been able to order more inventory from Bulldog in over a year. Hopefully, this will change. Until then, though, we are out of stock of this tool. Check out the rabbiting or poachers spade we make here in Oregon in a strapped version: Rabbiting Spade or "Poacher's Spade".

The forged rabbiting spade, made by Bulldog, has a flat top and curved bottom edge. It was originally designed for digging out rabbit burrows, hence the name. Specifically to retrieve small hunting dogs, such as the Jack Russell terrier, out of rabbit holes. While you may not need to get your dog out of a burrow, this spade is a great size and shape for working in tight spaces and transplanting shrubs. The curved blade makes it easy to dig tight around the base of a shrub to create a small root ball without disrupting the surrounding plants.

We make a hand-forged version of this tool, but now offer an equally durable and more cost effective version by Bulldog, a well-known and trusted manufacturer.

The solid forged head makes this tool durable and long-lasting. The D-shaped handle, made from ash, is comfortable to use and fits this type of tool.

Dimensions:
  • Shaft length from top of blade to top of handle: 28"
  • Blade: 5.5" wide x 10" tall
  • Overall dimensions: 38" tall x 5.5" wide x 3" deep
The size, shape, and weight of this item means we must charge an additional $10 shipping fee to our flat rate shipping rate to accommodate for the actual cost of shipping it.
