One Tine Cultivator Long Handle (Finger Hoe)
The standard Single Tine Cultivator comes with a hand-forged solid socket connection, seen at left. The actual head size is the same at the hand tool- seen at right.
The hand-forged steel of the solid socket fits around the wood of the handle and is through-riveted for this connection style.
The shank of the tool head fits inside the wood handle with the tang-and-ferrule connection and is through-riveted to ensure the head will not come loose from the handle.

Get into tight spots between plants

A single tine cultivator, the best tool for weeding or loosening soil in tight spaces between plants, is called a Finger Hoe. Our hoe has its question mark shaped head forged from low carbon steel. It's tough. We start with a half-inch round rod that is then shaped in the forge so the lozenge-shaped tip of the tine is a bit thicker, and longer lasting, than similar tools.

The Finger Hoe is useful for more than tillage. We know a nurseryman who uses them to maneuver one gallon plants around the enclosed bed of his pickup truck. It's also a great tool to drag brush after a long day of pruning.

There are two ordering options as there is only one head size for this tool:
  • Choose a handle length based on your height, 18 for raised bed gardening, or order the solid socket head with no handle.
  • Choose style of connection: forged solid socket (riveted) or tang-and-ferrule (riveted)
The size, shape, and weight of a long handled tool means we must charge an additional $15 shipping fee per tool to our flat rate shipping rate to accommodate for the actual cost of shipping it. Tools that are both long and wide can be quite expensive to ship.
