Half Moon Edger Personalized

The key to keeping lawns looking neat and trim around garden beds is edging. This half-moon edger has treads at the top so that you can easily step down onto it and then rock it side to side, slicing into the grass. 

The head of the tool is forged and hammered into the half-moon shape. The edge is sharpened to slice through the grass and all its roots. Keep the low carbon steel sharp with a mill file. We attach the tool head to the handle with either a tang-and-ferrule connection or a forged solid socket making it possible for you to rock the tool with all your might. When choosing the solid socket option, the tool head won't split the wood, because the solid wood taper at the end of the handle is inside the metal socket.  For tang and ferrule versions, we use a sturdy 1/2" or 5/8" shaft for the tang, and hand rivet through the metal ferrule (collar) and the tang for a strong mechanical fit.

We make this tool head in two standard sizes, but customized sizes may be possible. Please contact us for more information on custom sizes. The smaller head is approximately 5.5" wide and 4" deep - if you have curved edging to do or intricate work, this is the size for you. The larger head is approximately 8.5" wide and 6" deep.  The larger head is heavier and more efficient if you have long straight edges to maintain.

The most common handle length for this tool is 54 inches. However, as with all of our long-handled tools, choose from the personalized drop down menu to choose the handle length that best suits your height and use.
