Forged Hay Fork (3 tines)

When you need to grab leaves and other light, loose material - hay for example - a light weight hay fork does the job exceptionally well. We make this one as a 3 tine fork from 1/4" to 5/16" spring steel. We use 2 pieces of material, one piece for the outside tines and one for the inside tine and tool shank. The tines are roughly 10-11" in length and the head is around 7-8" wide from outside tine to outside tine. We generally twist and weld the piece for the outside tines around the center tine adding extra strength just below the handle ferrule. The tines will have some flex from side to side due to how thin they are, but they are heat treated to resist bending up and down. This isn't a digging fork or a fork for prying, but rather is used for transferring fairly light non-friable material, and is particularly useful when you need to lift light, bulky material from down low up and over the side of a pick up truck bed, trailer, or wheelbarrow.
